The Intermediate Barbering program is the technical training component of our academy. Students develop strong foundational and advanced barbering skills through structured instruction, supervised practice, and real-world preparation.

This program must be completed alongside Cutting with Compassion: Faith-Based Barbering Fundamentals in order to graduate.

What You Will Learn

Students receive hands-on training in:

• Clipper control and precision cutting

• Fades, tapers, and blending techniques

• Shear work and scissor-over-comb

• Beard grooming and detailing

• Razor techniques

• Hairline design and finishing

• Sanitation and safety standards

• Client consultation and service flow

• Professional shop conduct

Program Structure

Duration: 11 months
Schedule: Monday–Friday

Training Format:

• Instructor-led demonstrations

• Hands-on lab practice

• Live model training

• Supervised clinic floor experience

• Skill evaluations and feedback

Students build confidence through consistent repetition, correction, and real-world application.

Professional Development

In addition to technical training, students will develop:

• Client communication skills

• Time management in a service setting

• Portfolio-building techniques

• Business fundamentals

• Workplace professionalism

Our goal is to prepare students to work with competence, confidence, and consistency.

Student Kit & Materials

​

Students will receive:

• Professional clippers

• Shears

• Straight razor

• Mannequin head(s)

• Cape and tools

• Required textbooks

• Sanitation supplies

(Full kit details provided upon enrollment.)

Completion Requirements

​​

To pass this course, students must:

• Maintain a minimum of 90% attendance

• Actively participate in discussions and assignments

• Complete all required reflections and practical applications

• Uphold the academy’s code of conduct

Tuition & Fees

​

This course is required as part of the full academy program.

Faith-Based Fundamentals Tuition: $3,250 (Originally $6,500, now 50% off until June 2026)

​This fee covers barbering facility access, tools usage, books/workbooks, and on-site instruction. 

Registration Fee: $0 (Originally $35, waived until June 2026)

Admission Requirements

Applicants must:

• Have completed at least the 9th grade (Pennsylvania requirement)

• Submit a completed application

• Meet with admissions

• Commit to completing both required academy programs
